Ethylene glycol (EG) produced from biomass is a promising candidate for several new applications. In this paper, EG derivatives such as mono- and di-tert-butyl ethers are considered. However, accurate thermodynamic data essential to optimise the technology of direct tert-butyl ether synthesis reaction or reverse process isobutene release. The aim work measure vapour pressures combustion energies these determine vaporisation enthalpies formation measurements. Methods based on First Second Law Thermodynamics were combined discover reliable thermodynamics reactions. thermochemical ethylene validated using structure–property correlations quantum chemical calculations. literature results equilibrium study alkylation with evaluated functions derived. energetics determined according “First Law” “Second methods agree very well.
